Get Healthy Philly

Get Healthy Philly is the Division of Chronic Disease Prevention for the Philadelphia Department of Public Health.  Get Healthy Philly aims to make healthy choices easier where people live, work, learn, shop, worship, and play.  Get Healthy Philly is funded by city, state, and federal partners including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Get Healthy Philly is developing materials to support the Philadelphia Board of Health recommendations around beverages and screen time in early childhood education. The recommendations state:
  • No sweetened drinks in early childhood settings.
  • No fruit juice (including 100% juice) in early childhood settings.
  • Water should be available, easily accessible to children throughout the day and offered with meals and snacks.
  • Screen time for children aged 2 years and older limited to 30 minutes per week.
  • No screen time for children under age 2 in early childhood settings.

You can find resources for the Board of Health Recommendations here. Explore Food Fit Philly and A Running Start- Health for more information around healthy eating and physical activity.

The Implementation tab of the PA NAP SACC website contains professional development opportunities and resources that can help support implementation of the Philadelphia Board of Health Recommendations.
